Fix iPhone X Face ID is Not Working Issue (SOLVED)

The only thing that everyone seems to be talking about in 2017 is the unbeatable, outstanding and innovative Face ID feature in the iPhone X. While it is really thrilling to use some of these exciting features in the new devices, it can be equally nerve-racking to see them fail! There have been a few complaints here and there about the Face ID feature giving a few technical glitches to the user. It can be a simple issue in the settings of your phone to a complication in the mathematical representation of your face ID. Whatever it is, we have got you covered. In the article here, we get you some of the most viable solutions to fix the Face ID issue on your iPhone X.

Different Solutions to fix the Face ID issue on iPhone X

1. Turn Face ID On and Off

  • Step 1

One of the basic principles in any electronic device that seems to work for a variety of issues is to restart the device, i.e. turn it On-Off and then On again. We can do the same in case of Face ID issues in iPhone X as well.

  • Step 2

On your iPhone X, go to Settings > Face ID and Pass Code> Use Face ID> Disable iPhone Unlock.

  • Step 3

Then, turn off the device by pressing and holding the side button together with either of the volume buttons. A slider will appear at the top of the screen that says ‘Slide to power off’. Slide on this slider to turn off the device.

  • Step 4

To turn on the device, long press the side button until an Apple logo appears on the screen.

  • Step 5

Now once again go to the Settings> Face ID and Pass code> User Face ID> Enable iPhone Unlock.

  • Step 6

Now use the Face ID once again. If the problem persists, try the second solution.

2. Reset your Face ID

The second best solution obviously becomes the process of resetting your Face ID. This will reset all the old mathematical representations of the face and give them a new one.

  • Step 1

Go to Settings> Face ID and Pass Code> Reset Face ID (you can either follow the instructions on the screen to do so or read a guide online).

  • Step 2

Reset the iPhone X

  • Step 3

Now once again set up the facial recognition system on your iPhone X. It is very important to do so in the right manner. If you are not too sure on how to do it, you can look for a guide online.

  • Step 4

Your new Face ID should work well for you now!

3. Ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version available

Make sure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version. If not so, keep a track of all the updates on your phone. Whenever you get one for a software update, ensure that you download the latest version. However, if you are already using the latest version, restore your device as new, using iTunes. Before you restore the device, ensure that you have taken a backup.

  • Step 1

Using a USB cable, connect your device to your computer.

  • Step 2

Now open iTunes.

  • Step 3

You will see a Menu on the top left, select iPhone form there.

  • Step 4

Select the option ‘Restore iPhone’.

This should help you fix the Face ID issue on your iPhone X.

4. Reset all the settings on your iPhone

If you are still struggling to fix that Face ID issue on your iPhone, try resetting all the settings on your iPhone. This can be done by resetting the device to factory default.

  • Go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset all settings.
  • It is worth mentioning here that the process will also clear away all the Wi-Fi passwords as well as logins of different websites. But it will not harm the media and the data.
  • While in all probabilities, you will find a solution to your problem by either of these solutions mentioned above but if you fail to do so, you must contact your nearest Apple store for the solution.
